1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ServiceLink, operated by ServiceLink Nigeria. By accessing or using the platform — whether as a customer, provider, or visitor — you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements, and agree to comply with these Terms.

If you are using ServiceLink on behalf of a business or other legal entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms. References to "you" include both individuals and entities.

2. The platform

ServiceLink is an online marketplace that connects customers who need services with independent service providers who offer those services. We facilitate discovery, communication, scheduling, and payments — we do not directly provide any services listed on the platform.

Each provider operates as an independent contractor and is solely responsible for the quality, safety, legality, and completion of the services they offer. ServiceLink is not an employer of providers and does not supervise, direct, or control the work they perform.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the platform at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where possible.

3. Accounts and eligibility

To use ServiceLink, you must create an account using a valid email address or an approved social login. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must provide accurate, complete, and current information. You may not create an account on behalf of someone else without their permission, or create multiple accounts for the same person.

Providers must complete the verification process before accepting bookings. Verification requires submission of a government-issued ID, proof of address, and where applicable, professional certifications. Verified status may be revoked if submitted documents are found to be false or if conduct standards are not maintained.

ServiceLink reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraudulent activity, or poses a risk to other users or the platform.

4. Bookings and scheduling

Customers may book services in two ways: (1) directly at a fixed price, or (2) by submitting a booking request for a negotiable-price service. The booking process and payment obligations differ depending on the pricing type.

For fixed-price bookings, the customer pays immediately through Paystack. The booking is created in our system only after payment is confirmed. If payment is abandoned or fails, no booking record is created and no charge is applied.

All scheduled dates and times must fall within the provider's published availability. The platform enforces this restriction on both the user interface and server side.

A booking is considered confirmed when the provider explicitly accepts it through the platform. Receiving a payment does not by itself constitute a confirmed booking — providers have up to 48 hours to confirm or reject a paid booking.

5. Payment and fees

All payments on ServiceLink are processed through Paystack, a licensed payment service provider. By making a payment, you agree to Paystack's terms and privacy policy in addition to these Terms.

ServiceLink charges a platform fee on each completed transaction. This fee is deducted from the service price before the provider's earnings are calculated. The current fee percentage is displayed at checkout and on each booking summary page.

Payments are held in escrow by Paystack until a booking is marked complete. Providers do not receive funds until the job is done and the booking status is updated to COMPLETED.

All prices on the platform are denominated in Nigerian Naira (NGN). ServiceLink does not accept responsibility for currency conversion charges applied by your bank or card issuer.

6. Negotiable pricing and quotes

Providers may offer services with negotiable pricing. For these services, customers submit a booking request with their preferred date, time, and any notes — without making any upfront payment.

Upon receiving a request, the provider may send a formal price quote through the platform. The customer may accept the quote, reject it (at which point the provider may revise and resubmit), or cancel the booking request entirely.

No payment is initiated and no booking record is created until the customer explicitly accepts a quote. Acceptance of a quote triggers the payment process, after which the standard booking flow applies.

Providers are expected to respond to booking requests in a reasonable time. Customers may cancel a pending request at any time before a quote is accepted without any charge.

Once a quote is accepted and payment is made, the booking is subject to the same cancellation and refund terms as a fixed-price booking.

7. Cancellations and refunds

By customer (before provider confirmation): If you cancel a booking while it is in PENDING status (paid but not yet confirmed by the provider), you are entitled to a full refund. The refund is initiated automatically and typically processed within 5–10 business days.

By provider (rejection): If a provider rejects a paid booking, a full refund is automatically initiated. The customer receives an email notification and in-app notification.

Auto-cancellation: If a provider does not confirm or reject a paid booking within 48 hours, the booking is automatically cancelled by the platform and a full refund is issued. No action is required from the customer.

After confirmation: Cancellations after a provider confirms a booking may not be eligible for a full refund. Dispute resolution may be required.

Negotiable bookings (before quote accepted): Booking requests for negotiable services may be cancelled by either party at any time before a quote is accepted. No charge is made in this case.

ServiceLink does not charge cancellation fees on the customer side. Providers who frequently cancel confirmed bookings may have their accounts reviewed or suspended.

8. Disputes

If a service was not delivered as agreed, you may raise a dispute from your booking detail page. Disputes must be raised within 7 days of the scheduled service date.

Our admin team reviews all disputes and may request additional information, photos, or communication logs from either party. We aim to resolve all disputes within 48 hours of submission.

ServiceLink's dispute decision is final within the platform. If resolved in the customer's favour, the booking is cancelled and where applicable a refund is issued. If resolved in the provider's favour, the booking is marked complete and earnings are credited.

Filing a fraudulent dispute or providing false information during a dispute investigation is grounds for account suspension.

9. Provider obligations

Providers agree to: (a) provide services as described on their profile; (b) maintain accurate availability; (c) confirm or reject booking requests within 48 hours; (d) communicate professionally with customers; (e) honour confirmed bookings unless prevented by genuine emergency; (f) maintain any licences, certifications, or insurance required for their services.

Providers must not solicit customers to transact outside the ServiceLink platform to avoid fees. Circumventing platform payments is grounds for immediate termination.

Providers are responsible for the tax treatment of their earnings. ServiceLink does not withhold tax on behalf of providers.

10. Customer obligations

Customers agree to: (a) provide accurate information when booking; (b) be present or make access available at the scheduled time; (c) pay agreed fees promptly; (d) treat providers with respect; (e) raise disputes in good faith and only where a genuine issue has occurred.

Customers must not attempt to negotiate or complete transactions outside the platform after an initial connection is made through ServiceLink.

11. Reviews and ratings

Customers may leave a review after a booking is marked complete. Reviews must be honest, based on genuine experience, and must not contain defamatory, discriminatory, or inappropriate content.

ServiceLink reserves the right to hide, remove, or moderate reviews that violate these standards. Providers may not solicit fake or incentivised reviews. Customers may not extort providers with threats of negative reviews.

Reviews directly affect a provider's rating and search ranking. ServiceLink recalculates provider ratings when reviews are added, hidden, or restored.

12. Prohibited conduct

You must not: (a) use the platform for any unlawful purpose; (b) post false or misleading information; (c) impersonate another person or entity; (d) attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account or system; (e) scrape, crawl, or extract data from the platform without permission; (f) use the platform to transmit spam, malware, or harmful code; (g) engage in price manipulation, fake bookings, or fraudulent reviews; (h) harass, threaten, or abuse other users; (i) circumvent platform fees by conducting off-platform transactions.

13. Intellectual property

All content on ServiceLink — including text, graphics, logos, icons, and software — is owned by or licensed to ServiceLink Nigeria. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from platform content without written permission.

By uploading content (including profile photos, service images, and review text) you grant ServiceLink a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content in connection with operating the platform.

14. Limitation of liability

ServiceLink provides the platform "as is" and makes no warranties about the accuracy, reliability, or availability of the platform or any services listed on it.

To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, ServiceLink shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform — including loss of income, data, or goodwill — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the platform shall not exceed the total fees paid to ServiceLink in the 12 months preceding the claim.

15. Privacy

Your use of ServiceLink is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using the platform, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

16. Termination

You may close your account at any time from Settings → Danger Zone. Outstanding disputes, payments, or bookings must be resolved before deletion.

ServiceLink may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we determine that your presence on the platform poses a risk to other users. We will notify you of termination unless prohibited by law.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email and post a notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Continued use of the platform after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept the new Terms, you must stop using ServiceLink and close your account.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
